A Christmas Miracle Print E-mail

A Christmas Miracle: When death takes a detour

By Carolyn K. Erwin

Miracle - A surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency.— Webster's dictionary

I believe in miracles. I have enough faith to expect them to happen in my life in when I pray. Even though we don't hear enough about divine miracles nowadays, they do still happen. I know because I was the recipient of a divine miracle on Christmas Day 2002. The following is a true account of that miracle and the events as they occurred that day.

Siloam Baptist Church Dedicates New Building

Norristown, PA—June 5, 2017—Siloam Baptist Church proudly announces the dedication and opening of their new building extension on Sunday, June 11. The building adjoins the sanctuary located at 1329 Willow St. in Norristown.

Established in 1903, Siloam Baptist Church has been ministering to the Norristown and surrounding community for 114 years. Although the church has gone through renovations over the years, this is the first building expansion project in the history of the church.

The two-story addition will provide offices for the pastor, secretary and lavatories on the second floor, and on the first floor there are three classrooms to conduct religious training and educational tutoring, as well as meeting space.  A key element of this project is the installation of an elevator to improve accessibility.

“This addition will provide needed space for the church to carry out its mission of being God’s house of hope, healing and wholeness,” says Pastor John H. West, III, “and having the elevator is imperative for seniors and those who may have a physical disability.”

The new construction was made possible by the planning and financial assistance of American Baptist Extension Corporation and financial commitments from the congregation.

Pastor West remarks, “This is an excellent example of what our community can do when we work together for a great cause.”

The Dedication Service will begin with the 11:00 Worship Service on Sunday, June 11; followed by the ceremonial ribbon cutting.

Former mayor of Philadelphia and Baptist minister, the Rev. Dr. Wilson Goode, who will be the guest preacher states, “I have much respect for the work they are doing at Siloam.” Other religious and community dignitaries will also be present.

Siloam Baptist Church cordially invites the community to attend the service and ribbon cutting. For more information go to www.siloambc.org or contact the church office at 610-275-8163.
