where everybody goes
with a glare in the eye
and an up-turned nose
i went to get fed
but their bread was kind’a stale
everybody wears
their big church smiles
while the devil goes a’running
up and down the aisles

that you’re wheat
but you’re empty hulls of chaff

Yes, he ought to be scared

it’s time to get real
for the harvest is ripe
so come out of all your darkness

or are they hay?

people go every week
to show what they got
their faith is ice cold
but they think they’re kind’a hot
everybody swears
they’re Spirit filled
but the truth is, should you know it,
they’re oh so self willed
they were spiritually stillborn
(and their) flesh was never killed
Yet they sit in the pews
with their big church smiles
