Morning Blessing

by Yvonne L. Massie

I know this is the best way to start any day.  READ THE PRAYER ALOUD.  I pray that as you read this prayer, the Lord will stir your heart and mind to share it with someone that may be lost and unfulfilled, feeling unloved or unworthy, or distraught and confused...

Dear Lord I thank You for this day.  I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this day.  I’m blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me.

Forgive me this day for any sin that I have committed by word, thought, or deed by omission or co-mission, and I ask you to cleanse me of all unrighteousness.  Father create in me a clean and a pure heart, renew in me a right spirit and fill me with your precious Holy Spirit.  Keep me safe from all danger and harm. Let me start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude.  Let me make the best of each and every day and give my best in all that is put before me.  Clear my mind that I can hear from You. Broaden my mind that I can except all things.  Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control of. Let me continue to see sin through your eyes and acknowledge it as evil.

Father, strengthen me in the areas of my life where I fall short.  And when I sin, let me repent, and confess my wrongdoing, and receive the forgiveness of God. And when this old world closes in on me, let me remember Jesus’ example.  Slip away and find a quiet place to pray. It’s the best response when I’m pushed beyond my limits. I know that when I can’t pray that You listen to my heart.

Continue to use me to do Thy Will. Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Help me to esteem others more highly than myself and to look past their behavior and and recognize their need, knowing that all of our needs are in Jesus and that I too once had the same behavior in times past, But God.  Help me Lord to be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to wrath. Help me to not let one’s actions towards me cause me to re-act in an ungodly manner. Keep me strong that I may help the weak. Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others.

I pray for those that are lost and can’t find their way. I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood. I pray for those who refuse to share a word from You.  I pray for those that will read this and not use this in their lives. I pray for those that will delete this without sharing it with others. I pray for those that don’t believe. But I believe and believe that God changes people and God changes things. I pray for all my sisters and brothers.  In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

THOUGHTS:

“Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you.”

-Philippians 2:12-13

How often is our prayer-life interrupted by circumstances that we turn into excuses? No matter what our difficulty is, let’s pray for others.  If you’re enduring a long-term “inconvenience,” consider thanking God for what He has taught you through it.  Happiness depends on happenings; JOY depends on Jesus.  To get to heaven, it’s Who you know that counts!  A little sin adds to your troubles, subtracts from your energy, and multiplies your difficulties.

Have a blessed day and always pray.
