New Heights We’re Climbing

On October 3, 1993 the Reverend John H. West III began his ministry at Siloam.   His installation marked the end of a long and arduous search.  The subject of his sermon at the 11 a.m. service was: “What Did You Call Me For?”

Reverend West, a native of Moorestown, New Jersey, graduated from high school in 1972 and graduated cum laude from Lincoln University in 1976 with a degree in history.  He earned his Master of Divinity degree at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 1979.

He returned to Lincoln University, where he served as chaplain for 14 years.   During his ministry, there was substantial growth in Sunday worship attendance and the creation and development of more than 15 groups, programs, seminars and ministries, and the guidance of more than 25 young people who entered the ministry.

He is married to Patricia Lynne Murray, a teacher and mother of daughter, Candace Jordan.

During his brief tenure, Reverend West has familiarized himself with the church and its members.  He has significantly increased the membership.  He is in the active process of computerizing the operation and reorganizing the files, data, and other aspects of our organization.

Before he arrived, the church completely refinished and refurbished the parsonage.   It is now a lovely home for Reverend West and his family.  In addition, under his guidance, the officers of the church have obtained two properties on Willow Street adjacent to the church.
